Electronic License Management (ELM)

More Than Electronic License Delivery

OMS' Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) application ACROSS has built-in Electronic License Delivery - ELD that allows users to retrieve license key files or text as either as part of a dynamic create or a get next licensing process. OMS solutions are "license key technology agnostic" meaning we do not sell an licensing enforcement technology. Our application allow a client to bridge or connect to any commercial or homegrown license key management system (LKMS). Adding Electronic License Management to your customer self-service center increases both customer acceptance and satisfaction. This is term lowers your support and distribution costs.

License Management

Electronic License Delivery can be extended into Electronic License Management (ELM) by providing your customers the ability to self-service and re-license or renew or extend licensing parameters. In some cases, these options may require an eCommerce transaction as in the case of extending licensing parameters (buying more seats etc). In other cases like re-hosting or creating a test/backup license it may be simply an LKMS transaction.

Software vendors use license keys to track configurations and enforce run-time execution. Tradtionally, CRM databases are not synchronized with LKMS parameters. Furthermore, CRM systems are internal and not customer-facing systems so software vendors force customers to contact them in order to keep the LKMS and CRM "Customer Configuration" in sync. OMS' Electronic License Management can allow customer to self-service storing the configuration details and then getting the license key from the LKMS and providing it to the customer and finally updating the CRM customer configuration details.

Automation and Integration

By providing a simple and consistent manner for customers to receive software, documentation and license keys (including activation codes, config files or other customer specific files) you reduce your work effort and make it easier to recognize revenue earlier in the delivery process.

By extending the service parameters Electronic License Management can be used to allow renewals or configuration changes by customers without support assistance. This removes potential manual intervention or misinterpretation while synchronizing the customer, the LKMS and the CRM system.

If a customer could see each instance of their purchased software and provide configuration details (user/computer name or server name/mac address etc) they might find it mutually beneficial to keep the data up-to-date. If they could view registration data and potentially update that, they could be updating your CRM as well.
