Automating the Compliance Check

Why is export compliance so mission critical? By integrating and automating export compliance into your physical and electronic software delivery processes you reduce the risk associated with delivering products globally. For US-based companies, the real threat of penalties and potential loss of export rights can be devastating to competing globally. Due diligence and complete audit trails make it easier to ensure legal obligations can be met and proven.

OMS' Data Verification and Export Compliance Service:

  • Utilizes Geo-Locational Lookup – Provides global IP address cross-reference to country ensuring download address is not in restricted country.
  • Provides Denied Parties List Checking – Using US Government controlled lists as well as other international watch lists, your customers and products can be screened as part of your due diligence with respect to export compliance obligations.
  • Applies Advanced Fuzzy Logic Matching – Catches and scores subtle variations on names/address/any data element specified to increase accuracy and match probability. It also includes telephone country code verification.
  • Validates, corrects and formats data in less than a second – CConfirms and scores data match against all data elements as required.
  • Allows Extendibility – Client maintained data can be added and then verified from within OMS applications or by your other infrastructure.

OMS Data Verification and Export Compliance Service compares the customer input data to client specified list(s) to determine if there are any matches. Matches are determined when data either matches exactly or the compare returns a high score indicating the data is closely correlated.

DVEC Data Flow

A. Where the input data enters, i.e. Customer
B. Entry points into client's network, i.e. Web/POS/etc
C. Client sends transaction to OMS to process
D. OMS returns validation, any correction/reformatting as needed for entry into client's system(s)

The API includes a tri-state return (accepted, rejected, system error) as well as comprehensive rejection reasons making it safe and simple to program. As well, all transactions carry a transaction id which is linked to fully audited results within the database making it easy to determine specific resolution paths and options. OMS’ SDK includes migration and new implementation guides as sample materials and schemas.

OMS offers the service either bundled with its premier EntitleNow! ESD solution or as a standalone service available by a web-based GUI and a web service API. Read more in our Service Brief on Data Verification and Export Compliance Service.
